Starting acupuncture is an important step, and we're here to make your first visit comfortable, informative, and personalized. Whether you've had acupuncture before or this is your first experience, we'll guide you through each step and answer your questions along the way.
Your visit begins with a conversation about your health, medical history, current concerns, and treatment goals. This helps us understand your individual needs before making any recommendations.
We'll perform an individualized assessment, which may include observing movement, gentle palpation, and, when appropriate, Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment such as pulse and tongue evaluation.
When appropriate, you'll receive your first acupuncture treatment during the same visit. Most patients rest comfortably with the needles in place for about 30 minutes in a quiet, relaxing treatment room.
Most people experience little or no discomfort. The needles are extremely thin, and many patients find acupuncture relaxing.
Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended. Most acupuncture points can be accessed by rolling up sleeves or pant legs. Appropriate draping is used when needed.
The number of treatments depends on your condition, overall health, and treatment goals. We'll discuss our recommendations with you and develop a plan that fits your needs and schedule.
